WhatsApp chatbot pricing for UAE businesses: what you actually pay

WhatsApp chatbot interface demonstrating automated customer service

A UAE retail business wants to automate customer inquiries on WhatsApp. Their first question is always: what does it cost? The answer ranges from 5,000 AED for a simple template chatbot that only answers FAQs to 50,000 AED for a bespoke system that integrates with inventory, CRM, and payment processing. The cost difference is not arbitrary; it reflects what the chatbot can actually do. A cheap chatbot answers canned questions. An expensive one routes complex inquiries, checks real-time inventory, and completes transactions.

The three tiers of WhatsApp chatbots in 2026

Tier one: Simple FAQ chatbot (5,000–12,000 AED). Handles basic questions, answers from a pre-written list, escalates complex inquiries to a human. No integrations. Good for: customer service, support ticket deflection, quick answers. Monthly cost: 300–500 AED (hosting, API usage). ROI is hard to quantify but usually breaks even within two months if it reduces support staff overhead. Tier two: Smart chatbot with integrations (20,000–35,000 AED). Understands intent, checks real-time inventory, can answer 'do you have an iPhone 15 Pro in black?', routes customers to the right department, logs inquiries in your CRM. Good for: retail, hospitality, service businesses. Monthly cost: 1,000–2,000 AED. ROI is clearer: fewer customer-support hours + improved conversion from inquiry to sale. Tier three: Transactional chatbot (40,000–60,000 AED). Books appointments, processes payments, updates customer records, generates invoices. Good for: clinics, salons, restaurants. Monthly cost: 2,000–3,500 AED. ROI is fastest: automated revenue (booking fees, transactions) often exceeds monthly cost within 30 days.

Hidden costs to budget for

The chatbot build price is only part of the cost. WhatsApp API fees (Meta charges per message beyond a free tier), hosting, vector databases for semantic search, and ongoing training add up. A rule of thumb: double the build cost and expect that to be your year-one spend (build + 12 months of operation). For a 30,000 AED chatbot, budget 60,000 AED for the first year. In year two, only operational costs apply (usually 15,000–25,000 AED per year).

  • Simple FAQ chatbot: 5,000–12,000 AED build, 300–500 AED monthly
  • Smart chatbot with integrations: 20,000–35,000 AED build, 1,000–2,000 AED monthly
  • Transactional chatbot: 40,000–60,000 AED build, 2,000–3,500 AED monthly
  • Budget for year one: roughly 2x the build cost (build + 12 months operation)
  • Payback period: 2–3 months for FAQ, 4–6 months for smart chatbot, 30 days for transactional
