Overview
n8n automation layer sitting on a Directus CMS: enrols learners from Stripe webhook, provisions course access, fires milestone nudges, generates QF-Level-5-formatted certificate PDFs, and pushes completion data to the Qatar NVTQ registry API.
The challenge
The platform's admin team manually processed Stripe payments, granted Moodle access, and emailed certificate PDFs — a three-person process taking up to four hours per enrolment and three days for certificate issuance after course completion.
The solution
We wired an n8n workflow to the Stripe payment webhook: on successful charge it provisions the learner account in Directus, fires a welcome email sequence, and schedules lesson-completion nudges at 3-day intervals. A second workflow monitors Directus for course-completion events, triggers pdfkit to generate a QF-Level-5-formatted certificate, stores it in Directus Media, and calls the NVTQ registry API to push the credential. Directus serves as both the content store and the automation state machine.
