Itqan Telecom NOC Dashboard

Client:Regional B2B telecoms provider (6,200 enterprise circuits) · RiyadhYear:2024Industry:B2B telecommunicationsDuration:16 weeks
  • reporting

  • saudi

Overview

Unified Grafana + Loki + Prometheus stack replacing three vendor-specific NMS systems — consolidating 6,200 enterprise circuits into a single real-time NOC view and cutting MTTR from 74 minutes to 9 minutes.

The challenge

The NOC operated three siloed NMS platforms — one per vendor equipment type — requiring engineers to switch screens constantly to correlate events. A BGP route leak or fibre cut took 74 minutes on average to isolate because there was no single event-correlation view. Enterprise SLA penalties for downtime events averaged SAR 140k per quarter.

The solution

Our approach

We deployed Grafana + Prometheus + Loki on a 3-node Docker Swarm cluster in the client's Riyadh data centre. SNMP exporters were configured for all three vendor equipment families (Cisco, Huawei, Juniper), normalising metrics into a unified Prometheus schema. Alertmanager rules grouped correlated events within a 2-minute window to eliminate alert storms. Grafana's topology view was customised with a custom panel plugin to render a live Saudi backbone map showing circuit status by region.

Outcomes

What we delivered

MTTR from 74 minutes to 9 minutes — an 8.2× improvement

All three NMS platforms decommissioned within 3 months of go-live

Enterprise SLA penalty fees dropped from SAR 140k to SAR 11k per quarter

NOC headcount reduced by 30% through consolidation — no redundancies, staff redeployed to field operations

Client testimonial

“My engineers used to spend the first 20 minutes of every incident just figuring out where it was. Now they know in under 60 seconds. The SLA penalty bill speaks for itself.”
