Reporting agents

Overview

Self-hosted Apache Superset replacing a manual Murabaha portfolio reporting process — providing credit officers, branch managers, and the board with live delinquency heatmaps, cohort analysis, and Zakat-adjusted yield dashboards.

The challenge

Monthly board reporting required a four-day marathon of consolidating 28 branch Excel files into a master workbook. Delinquency signals were detected 30 days late on average because the data refresh cycle matched the reporting cycle. The finance team had no way to run ad-hoc Zakat provision calculations or cohort survival analysis for different financing vintages.

The solution

Our approach

We deployed Apache Superset on a bare-metal server in the institution's Kuwaiti data centre and modelled the financing portfolio data with dbt — producing clean Murabaha instalment, delinquency, and Zakat provision marts. We built a custom SQLAlchemy dialect extension to expose Zakat-adjusted yield as a computed column visible in Superset's drag-and-drop chart builder. The board pack is now a Superset dashboard exported to PDF via a scheduled Superset report email every month-end.

Outcomes

What we delivered

Board pack preparation from 4 working days to under 2 hours

Delinquency detection lag eliminated — alerts fire within 24 hours of instalment miss

Zakat provision calculations now take 8 minutes instead of a full analyst-day

28 branches now submit data via automated daily sync; manual file consolidation eliminated

Client testimonial

“The board used to receive a 30-day-old picture of the business. Now they open their laptops and see yesterday's delinquency position. The change in decision quality is remarkable.”
