Overview

Unified Grafana + Prometheus + Loki stack replacing 5 disconnected monitoring tools; client-scoped dashboards embedded in a white-label portal reduce MTTR from 47 minutes to 6 minutes.

The challenge

The provider's NOC team switched between Zabbix, Nagios, CloudWatch, a custom Python health-check script, and client-specific dashboards built in Google Sheets. Alert fatigue was severe — 1,200 daily alerts with a 34% false-positive rate. Mean time to resolve incidents stood at 47 minutes, threatening SLA commitments to enterprise clients.

The solution

Our approach

We deployed the Grafana OSS stack (Grafana + Prometheus + Loki + Alertmanager) on a Docker Swarm cluster, migrated all existing Zabbix and Nagios metrics exporters, and wrote a unified Alertmanager rule set that reduced alert volume by 61% through deduplication and noise suppression. Each client got a scoped Grafana organisation with dashboards embedded directly in the provider's white-label client portal via Grafana's signed embed tokens.

Outcomes

What we delivered

MTTR cut from 47 minutes to 6 minutes — a 7.8× improvement

Daily alert volume dropped from 1,200 to 470 with false-positive rate reduced to 8%

All 5 legacy monitoring tools decommissioned, saving BHD 3,400/month in licences

Clients gained real-time visibility into their workloads via the embedded portal

Client testimonial

“We went from five tools nobody trusted to one dashboard everyone checks first. Our enterprise clients now see their workloads in real time and the SLA conversations have completely changed.”
