Overview

Self-hosted Budibase app enabling staff to submit leave, view payslips, and raise HR queries in Arabic and English — cutting HR helpdesk tickets by 67% and processing leave requests from 3 days to 4 hours.

The challenge

With staff spread across seven properties speaking Arabic, English, Hindi, and Tagalog, the HR department received 320 helpdesk tickets per week — mostly routine leave requests and payslip queries. Leave approval required physical paperwork routed through department heads, taking up to three days. The HR team of four was drowning in admin and unable to focus on talent initiatives.


The solution

Our approach

We built the portal on Budibase's self-hosted community edition, integrating it with Active Directory for single sign-on and the client's existing payroll system via REST API for live payslip PDF generation. The leave-approval workflow was modelled inside Budibase's process builder, routing requests to the appropriate department head with a two-hour SLA escalation to HR director. We extended Budibase with a custom Arabic RTL theme to make the interface fully comfortable for Arabic-speaking staff.
