Overview

Medusa v2 headless store with live catch availability updated by fishermen via a mobile PWA, B2B wholesale price tiers, next-morning cold-chain delivery slot booking, and Benefit Pay integration. B2B order volume grows 3× in three months; spoilage-credit disputes drop 90%.

The challenge

The market's perishable inventory changed daily based on what the fishing fleet brought in, but the previous WooCommerce site showed static stock levels that were often wrong by midday, leading to over-ordering and spoilage disputes with restaurant clients. The B2B tier was handled entirely through phone calls and handwritten price lists, which meant pricing mistakes were common and there was no order history for either side to reference.

The solution

Our approach

We adapted Medusa v2's inventory module so each SKU has a live-catch quantity that fishermen update via a minimal Supabase-backed PWA from their phones. B2B customers log in to a separate channel with wholesale price tiers and minimum-order thresholds managed through Medusa's customer-group API. Cold-chain delivery slots are booked against a Redis-backed slot calendar that prevents double-booking and auto-closes when refrigerated truck capacity fills.

Outcomes

What we delivered

B2B restaurant order volume grew 3× within three months as the phone-call process was replaced

Spoilage-related credit disputes dropped by 90% once real-time inventory accuracy was established

Fishermen now update catch quantities from the dock within 10 minutes of landing

Average B2B order value rose 28% after bulk-tier pricing became transparent and self-serve

Client testimonial

“Restaurant owners used to call me at 6 AM asking if we had hammour. Now they just check the site, book their slot, and the fish is there. No arguments.”
