Mishal Pharmacy Online

Overview

Bagisto-based pharmacy store with prescription-upload gating, pharmacist-approval workflow, Qatar MOPH drug-category compliance rules, and QNB debit integration. Prescription order fulfilment drops from 3 days to 4 hours; cart abandonment from 71% to 38%.

The challenge

Qatar's MOPH regulations require pharmacies to gate prescription drugs behind a verified pharmacist review, which no off-the-shelf e-commerce platform supports out of the box. The pharmacy's manual WhatsApp order process was taking three days from prescription photo to delivery confirmation. Card-on-file checkout was absent, forcing repeat customers through the full form every time and pushing abandonment rates above 70%.

The solution

Our approach

We extended Bagisto's checkout pipeline with a prescription-upload interceptor: customers attach a photo, the order enters a pharmacist review queue, and the pharmacist approves or rejects within 30 minutes via an internal dashboard. MOPH drug-category flags are loaded as a Bagisto attribute set so restricted SKUs automatically trigger the review gate. QNB debit was integrated as a custom payment method and tokenised card-on-file was added for repeat customers.

Outcomes

What we delivered

Prescription order fulfilment dropped from 3 days to 4 hours after the pharmacist-queue workflow went live

Cart abandonment fell from 71% to 38% once tokenised card-on-file was available

Zero MOPH compliance violations recorded in the first six months of operation

Pharmacist review capacity increased 3× because the queue replaced email-based workflows

Client testimonial

“The prescription queue alone saved us from a potential MOPH fine. Our pharmacists now review prescriptions on a screen instead of chasing WhatsApp threads.”
