Overview

Saleor multi-vendor marketplace for artisans across Oman, UAE, and Bahrain: storytelling product pages, custom engraving configurator, DHL express GCC shipping calculator, and Oman's OmanNet payment integration. International buyer share grows from 6% to 34% within 8 months.

The challenge

Artisans were selling individually on Instagram with no unified discovery layer, no shared fulfilment infrastructure, and no international payment acceptance. Buyers from Europe and North America wanted craft items but could not pay in local currency or get reliable shipping quotes. The artisans themselves had no digital literacy for managing a storefront, so the platform needed to be so simple that a craftsperson could update stock from a phone with minimal training.

The solution

Our approach

We self-hosted Saleor and built each artisan a micro-storefront that inherits the marketplace's checkout, DHL rate-shopping API, and OmanNet/Stripe payment routing automatically. A Cloudinary-powered storytelling template generates bilingual product pages from a five-field form — artisan fills name, material, technique, region, and upload photo, and the rest is auto-rendered. A custom engraving configurator built as a Saleor product attribute lets buyers personalise items before checkout.

Outcomes

What we delivered

International buyer share grew from 6% to 34% within eight months of marketplace launch

Average artisan monthly income from the platform rose by the equivalent of AED 1,200

Storefront setup time for a new artisan dropped to under 20 minutes with the five-field template

DHL rate-shop integration reduced shipping cost disputes to near zero
